Sri Lanka to Host Green Climate Fund's Regional Dialogue for East and South Asia in Colombo

Sri Lanka has been selected by the Asia Pacific group of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) — the financing mechanism established under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to help developing countries cut greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change — to host the Regional Dialogue for the East and South Asia Regions of the Green Climate Fund, an event that brings together roughly 120 representatives from 11 countries to review climate change projects and programmes, exchange challenges and lessons learned, and build partnerships and new strategies for accessing GCF financing; following the Cabinet of Ministers' approval of a resolution presented by the Minister of Environment, the dialogue is scheduled to be held in Colombo from 14 to 17 September 2026, alongside the signing of an agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Green Climate Fund.
