SLINTEC - The NanoTechnology Happens Here in Sri Lanka


Sri Lanka Nanotechnology Institute (SLINTEC ) is a government-funded organization that was established in 2009 with the goal of promoting and supporting nanotechnology research and development in Sri Lanka. The institute is headquartered in Colombo and has a network of satellite centers throughout the country.

The founders of SLINTEC were a group of Sri Lankan scientists and engineers who recognized the potential of nanotechnology to address a wide range of challenges facing the country, including energy, water, food security, healthcare, and environmental protection. They believed that by investing in nanotechnology research and development, Sri Lanka could not only improve the quality of life for its citizens but also position itself as a leader in the rapidly-growing field of nanotechnology.

Since its inception, SLINTEC has made significant contributions to the development of nanotechnology in Sri Lanka. Some of its notable accomplishments include:

  • Collaborating with leading universities, research institutes, and industry partners both within Sri Lanka and internationally to advance nanotechnology research and development.

  • Participating in national and international research projects, conferences, and workshops to share knowledge and exchange ideas with the global nanotechnology community.
