The Oil exploration in Sri Lankan Mannar Basin of west coast will commenced in Middle of nest year. (2008) The closing date for bids on 2,3 and 4 blocks of Mannar Basin is January 31st . The 1st block is already given to Indian government and rest will be given to the highest bids. Last week Sri Lankan Cabinet approval is issued to issue exploration blocks in Cauvery basin. The seismic data which was provided by the Norwegian firm confirm the potential of Oil and Gas resources in Mannar Basin.
