ExSact by Exelus Inc. - an alternative catalyst for alkylation process in oil refinery

In ordinary petroleum refining process Hydrogen Fluoride or Sulfuric Acid is being used as the catalyst for alkylation process. It is the unit operation which ensure a high-octane component for gasoline. But Hydrogen Fluoride or Sulfuric Acid are toxic and dangerous specially when an accident occurred. Environmentalist and unions of refineries make voice against use of Hydrogen Fluoride or Sulfuric Acid which can be harmful for employees and neighbours. So industrialist try to find an alternative.

Exsact is a solid-acid catalyst which essentially are rocks that act chemically as acids. Exsact is made of the mineral zeolite and other metals.
