Some international diplomats try to put Sri Lanka into R2P concept, some try to label us as inefficient country. However, everyone should read international reports and compare our state among regional countries prior to run us down. Today I read “The State of the World Children 2008”. According to its ranking Sri Lanka is among top rankings among in regional countries. As example, our under 5 mortality rate is 13 per 1000 and it is a great value among worst of 270 per 1000 in Sierra Leone and best in Sweden 3 per 1000.

You have to thank the civil servants and the governments of 1948-1960 for these acheivements, no one else. The standards have not improved much since then.
